Terms & Conditions

1.  Reservations and Payments

• Deposit:┬áA minimum deposit of┬á$750 USD┬áper person is required to secure your reservation.
• Balance Payment:┬áThe remaining balance is due no later than┬á90 days┬áprior to the tour start date.
• Late Bookings:┬áIf a reservation is made within 90 days of the start date, the full amount is due immediately.
• Payment Methods:┬áDeposits are accepted via Bank Transfer. Any transaction fees are the responsibility of the client.

2. Cancellation and Refunds

We understand that plans change, but as we prepay our boutique heritage bungalows and local partners, the following penalties apply:

• More than 120 days prior:┬áFull refund of deposit, less a┬á$100 administrative fee┬áand any bank/transaction fees.
• 120 to 90 days prior:┬á75% of the deposit is refundable.
• Less than 90 days prior:┬áNo refunds will be issued.

Unused Services: Once the journey begins, no refunds or credits will be given for unused rooms, meals, or activities, regardless of the reason for non-participation.

3. Mandatory Travel Insurance

Due to the nature of travel in the central highlands and our strict cancellation policy, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory. Your policy must cover trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and emergency evacuation. We also strongly recommend additional coverage for your photographic equipment.

4. Itinerary Changes & Shifting Moods

Photography in the highlands is subject to weather, light, and local conditions. First Light reserves the right to amend the itinerary or substitute accommodation of a similar standard to ensure the safety of the group or to better capture the region’s shifting mood. Such changes do not constitute grounds for a refund.

5. Health and Physical Requirements

By booking, you confirm that you are in good health. Some locations, such as the ridges of Riverston or the spiral of Ambuluwawa, require moderate walking on uneven terrain. If a participantΓÇÖs physical condition or behavior is deemed to negatively impact the groupΓÇÖs safety or experience, the tour leader reserves the right to remove them from the tour without a refund.

6. Limitation of Liability

First Light acts only as an agent for the hotels, transport providers, and local guides. We assume no liability for injury, loss, damage, accident, or delay caused by any vehicle, weather condition, or third-party service provider.

7. Media Release

By participating, you agree that any photographs or video taken of you during the journey may be used by First Light for promotional purposes (website, social media) unless you notify us in writing prior to the start of the tour.
