Central Highlands Tour

Beyond the familiar coastlines lies the emerald heart of Sri Lanka. First Light invites you on a seven-day photographic journey through the Central HighlandsΓÇöa world of rolling tea estates, high peaks, and sacred sites. This circuit is designed to explore the most picturesque locations. From the windswept ridges of Riverston and the tower of Ambuluwawa, to the gothic whimsy of HelgaΓÇÖs Folly and the colonial echoes of Nuwara Eliya, every stop offers a window into the regionΓÇÖs character. This expedition is about mastering light and composition. You will capture morning mist over ancient peaks and the vibrant daily life of the hill country. Our local expertise grants you exclusive access to hidden vantage points, ensuring your portfolio reflects the true depth of this sanctuary. We focus on the interplay of texture and shadow, from tea plucking to the vast mountain ranges. The journey ends with a sunset shot at the lake.

What is included in the tour price?

The tour price covers 6 nights of private accommodation in 3-star properties with no single supplements. You receive Full Board meals (Sri Lankan and Western), expert photographic guidance, and private transport in an air-conditioned vehicle. All entrance fees for itinerary sites and local taxes are also included.

Excluded costs include international airfare, visa fees (ETA), and personal expenses like laundry or souvenirs. You are also responsible for alcohol and specialty drinks, tips and gratuities, and any additional camera fees for professional video or drone equipment where applicable.

The difficulty is moderate. You should be comfortable walking 2ΓÇô3 kilometers on uneven terrain (such as the grass slopes in Riverston) and climbing stairs (Ambuluwawa). We always move at a “photographerΓÇÖs pace” with plenty of stops to ensure you get the perfect shot.

To ensure a high-quality experience, we keep groups small with only 4ΓÇô6 photographers. Every participant is provided a private room as our standard, so you will not have to share accommodation or pay an extra fee for single occupancy.

We welcome everyone from hobbyists to seasoned professionals, adapting our instruction to your needs. While we recommend a DSLR or Mirrorless system, a full gear checklist is provided upon booking to help you prepare.

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory, covering medical, accidents, repatriation, and gear. Most travelers also require an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), which must be obtained through the official online portal before arriving in Sri Lanka.
