Architectural and landscape photography at Lunuganga

Lunuganga, a country estate outside Bentota, is Geoffrey Bawa’s most personal work, a project he spent over four decades perfecting. For photographers interested in architecture, landscape photography, and the relationship between the built and natural world, it is one of the most distinctive locations in Sri Lanka.

Bawa terraced the land, framed views, and wove buildings into the landscape, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. This location requires patient and unhurried observation and offers a rare glimpse into the master architect’s life and work.
